Tyne Cot Cemetery

Description

I recently went to Belgium and to The Somme in France. The views there are incredible and chilling. Tyne Cot was the largest cemetery we visited and to see all the graves was awe inspiring. Each graveyard we went to was beautifully presented and cared for by the Commonwealth (with some other charities and countries). Seeing this cemetery on TV or in photos does not prepare you for the actual sheer amount of gravestones both with names and without names. I found a particular set of three graves from the Royal Irish Regiment , one of which had a Northern Irish Flag ( where I'm from) on the grave. Two of the graves had little crosses placed at them but the third did not. So i placed a little cross with a poppy at the grave. It, by no means, pays respect the all those soldiers but I felt like I had too. I don't know if i have any distant relatives who fought and/or died in the Great War but throughout my trip to Belgium and France and paid my own respects and that cross was one.
